Ensenada is famous for its vineyards and the fine wine produced there. With prices so reasonable, Americans and Canadians alike find great bargains here. People from all over the world come to Ensenada for the deep sea fishing and fabulous surfing.
It is only about an hour from Tijuana and so it is a popular site for Californians. Ensenada is a cultural center in its own right, being the home of The University of Baja California, the National University of Mexico's institutes of Astronomy and Physics, a private School of Medicine and several private research centers.
Visitors can access duty free shopping, beautiful beaches and some of the friendliest people anywhere. In fact, many Americans have taken up residence here and at last count there are about 25,000 North Americans living among the native population of 85,000 people.
