Just down the road from Oaxaxa City, Puerto Escondido,is situated on the coast of the state of Oaxaca, 249 km (154 mi) south of the state capital. The road is paved but windy and mountainous, making for a slow, relaxing drive to this busy city. And well worth the trip if you’ve come to participate in surfing at this, the surfing capital of Mexico.

The tropical climate results in blue-green waters that are ideally suited for a wide variety of aquatic sports. There are surfing contests and sports fishing tournaments.
In the city, you’ll find the streets busy with open-air seafood restaurants, shops, and cafe-bars. Not only can you find beautiful crafts made of seashells and black coral at the many shops and market, the night life will have you partying until the sun comes up.
